Antonio "Tony" Meloto, born in Bacolod, Negros Occidental and married to Lyn Dizon, is the founder of Gawad Kalinga (literally means, “give care”), an international humanitarian movement that has built communities for the poorest of the poor in the Philippines and some parts in Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and other developing countries.


In 2006, Tony Meloto was chosen to receive the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award, in recognition of his work in "inspiring Filipinos to believe with pride that theirs can be a nation without slums."
